The challenge of change

A new hashtag in the social media is trending, which is called #10yearschallenge. The expression explains itself, people are sharing a ten years old picture and current picture of themselves followed by the hashtag.

It is fun, but then my hyperactive unfortunate habit of over thinking made me look at the pictures again (those seen in my profile wall).

We face many challenges, many unfortunate incidents and even some fortunate events. While facing them, we tend to change, it can come in any form; change of belief, change of company, change of city, even change of self.
The 10 years challenge made me see that the material side of people rarely change, but the intangible emotional quotient changes immensely.

I was not least bit tempted to try and share because firstly I rarely like to be in front of the camera and secondly, I am very happy to grow up in a time where our phones were not as smart as today's, making it difficult to take very good pictures.
Having said so, I was curious to observe the change in me in very few of whatever clicks I have in my treasure collection.
Not much has changed look wise, I'm still that wide nosed, broad foreheaded, big button eyed and not so photogenic girl about which I have no problem.
However, I didn't have to look very close to see what changed; my smile!
Apart from a very many people, who were there back then with me, the one intangible emotional quotient of mine that has changed, is my smile....
To be honest I knew 90% of those people won't make 10 years with me, for which I am not shocked; then again there were certain people I thought would definitely be standing around my death bed, well apparently they won't and for that I am pained..But then there are people who have been the constants and I can not thank them enough....All the additions, subtractions, ups and downs, tears and joy effected the way I smile......
Earlier I could see the carefree-ness in my loud and generous smile. I still smile, none of them are fake (ok! Some are!!), but there is something that I couldn't point that is very seriously missing from them.
.....May be, just may be that is called growing up...!!

#StayBlessed!
