The Scarred Incident

People always ask me about why I share all the mental awareness write ups ?!

It is because I have seen it close enough several times to understand that people need to be aware of any kind of mental discomfort. Sitting in 21st century most people relate mental problems with madness which is preposterous.
I keep seeing people suffering from it and keep seeing people who are still ignorant.

For last couple of weeks, I have been a bit disturbed and did not know how to put words into my feelings because of one such incidents.

However, I had to pen it down else it would have started to affect me. (It is something that is suggested in therapy. If something is hurting you bad, you should let it out and keep letting it out till the time it stops hurting. Writing for me is such a thing!)

Amidst the festival of light, someone I knew decided to end her life.
I was not there and heard it couple of days later, yet I knew her enough that it made me sit in shock for a good amount of time. No she was not family but a close family friend of my aunt, so we knew her pretty well.

We knew what she was going through but most people did not. She used to do all the chores, laugh, talk, go out and do everything that one is expected. That is the problem with this diseases.
The people we live with have to be attentive enough to notice the small changes in our behavior because the time when the big changes will come into notice will be the time when there is no turning back!

Even in that fateful day she did all the work she is expected to and then decided that there is nothing to live for. I shudder just by thinking of the pain she was going through so much so that she did not even think about her kids.

Mental illness is a silent killer. It kills the person from inside to such an extent that they decide to end it from outside to ease out the pain.

So PLEASE talk to someone you know who is going through any kind of turmoil. You never know when a well versed conversation or just bursting of emotion can save someone's life.
In a world of social media we forgot how to talk to each other.
We remain busy chatting online that at times we forget that a kind "I am here to talk" can do what medicines can't.
